BNB Chain Hits 88% TPS Boost with BEP-675 Upgrade
BNB Chain has reported positive results from its BEP-675 upgrade, which aims to improve the network's scalability. According to testnet data, the proposal increased transaction throughput by 88%, reaching a peak of 2,324 transactions per second (TPS) compared to a baseline of 1,237 TPS.
The improvement was achieved without altering the network's existing gas limit or block interval, suggesting that BNB Chain can extract additional capacity from its current framework. The upgrade works by eliminating duplicate transaction execution between block builders and validators, allowing builders to submit blocks that have already been fully executed.
Test results showed a significant reduction in validator execution time, from 125 milliseconds to just 15 milliseconds, giving builders more room to fill blocks closer to their available gas capacity. The upgrade also addresses a previous limitation where up to 25% of blocks could be submitted partially filled due to insufficient processing time.
While the testnet results are promising, further mainnet testing is needed to validate the performance under real-world conditions. The BEP-675 proposal forms part of BNB Chain's broader strategy to improve capacity for high-volume applications, including decentralized finance, gaming, and payment services.
