BNB Chain Prepares for Major Upgrades with Pasteur Hard Fork
The BNB Chain network is set for significant upgrades as it prepares to activate the Pasteur hard fork in just two days. The upgrade, which has been live on the BSC testnet since July 21, includes stronger bridge verification, safer validator key rotation, and more room in every block.
According to the BNB Chain developers, the Pasteur hard fork is a departure from previous upgrades, which focused on increasing speed. The Fermi hard fork, activated in January, brought block times down to 0.45 seconds, followed by the Osaka/Mendel hard fork in April, which maintained that pace.
The Pasteur upgrade aims to use that increased speed more effectively and address two areas where validators could hold onto power they shouldn't have. This is achieved through three proposals shipped in the fork: BEP-673, BEP-682, and BEP-675.
