BNB Chain Set for Significant Upgrades in Two-Day Countdown
The BNB Chain network is set for significant upgrades in just two days' time. The Pasteur hard fork, scheduled to activate on August 25, will introduce major improvements, including stronger bridge verification and safer validator key rotation.
According to the BNB Chain developers, the Pasteur hard fork marks a shift from previous upgrades that focused on increasing speed. While the Fermi and Osaka/Mendel hard forks achieved block times of just 0.45 seconds, Pasteur aims to use this speed more efficiently and address potential security issues.
Three key proposals are included in the upgrade: BEP-682 for stronger bridge verification, BEP-695 for validator keys that properly retire, and BEP-675 for fuller blocks at the same speed. These changes will have a significant impact on the network's capacity and security.
