BNB Chain Surpasses Ethereum, Bitcoin in Real Economic Value Generation
BNB Chain generated nearly $900K in Real Economic Value (REV) on August 3, outperforming major rivals Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum. According to data from DefiLlama, BNB Chain's daily REV has consistently hovered near or above $800K in recent weeks.
REV measures the combined value of transaction fees, tips, and priority fees that users voluntarily pay for faster transactions. This metric is seen as a better proxy for genuine network utility than fee-burn metrics alone.
BNB Chain's infrastructure improvements, including reduced block intervals to 450 milliseconds and increased transaction throughput to approximately 5,200 per second, have contributed to its success. With roughly 4.5 million daily active users as of Q1 2026, it's clear that users are not only showing up but also spending.
Ethereum still leads in aggregate revenue over longer timeframes due to its large DeFi ecosystem and NFT infrastructure. However, BNB Chain's app-layer revenue frequently exceeds $800K, indicating substantial economic value generated by decentralized applications built on the network.
