BNB Chain's Pasteur Upgrade Paves Way for Further Scaling
The BNB Chain has successfully implemented its Pasteur hard fork, which has boosted block gas capacity by 28% under live mainnet conditions.
Powered by BEP-675, the upgrade removes redundant Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) execution steps, allowing for more efficient block production and opening new scaling potential for the network.
The transition to BEP-675 has been swift, with over 98% of blocks produced on BSC using the new BidBlock V2 format. The largest builders, including 48Club and BlockRazor, drove this adoption, with nearly all active builders now utilizing it.
The network is set to scale further, with plans to incrementally raise its gas limit from 55 million to 90 million based on mainnet performance data. Validators have already begun increasing the gas limit, which has reached over 55 million as of September 14, 2026.
