Boltz Bitcoin Bridge Suspends Services Amid AI Hacking Attacks
Bitcoin bridge Boltz has been under fire for allowing its warrant canary to lapse for over five days. A warrant canary is a public notice that a service has not received a secret legal process, and in this case, the lapse led some critics to believe that Boltz was possibly under government investigation.
Boltz had previously suffered months of 'AI-assisted probing' with attackers able to iterate faster than its team could find and patch. The company had suspended its services due to these attacks, but the warrant canary lapse has raised questions about the true nature of the situation.
Critics took the combination of Boltz's service suspension and warrant canary lapse as a signal of duress. One critic, Adam Simecka, even went so far as to call it an 'authenticated Deadman Switch,' implying that a government agency had taken over Boltz.
