Boltz Halts Swap Services Amid Rise in AI-Powered Attacks
Boltz, a leading Bitcoin atomic swap and bridge protocol, has suspended its swap services indefinitely after an attempted exploit began at 5:54 a.m. ET on August 3.
The team cited a rise in automated, AI-assisted attacks as the reason for halting swaps across Lightning and Liquid rails for wallets such as Aqua and Bitcoin Bull.
Boltz says user funds remain secure due to its non-custodial design and its API is issuing refunds, but the outage underscores escalating crypto security risks that may hinder DeFi bridge adoption and on-chain liquidity.
