Bottomline Partnership Sends Chainlink (LINK) Soaring
Chainlink (LINK) has surged 7% after Bottomline, a top-three Swift service provider, selected Chainlink to integrate blockchain capabilities into its $16 trillion payment network. This partnership will enable over 600 banking institutions to utilize on-chain settlement mechanisms while maintaining their existing operational infrastructure.
The technical backbone of this integration relies on Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which manages the movement of tokenized assets between different blockchain ecosystems, and the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) that orchestrates the complete payment execution flow. This solution provides participating institutions with access to numerous public and private blockchain networks via a unified integration point.
International payment processing represents a primary application focus for this partnership. Cross-border transactions frequently require multiple days for final settlement, with transaction fees often exceeding 5% of the transferred amount. The Chainlink integration aims to address these inefficiencies by providing an alternative settlement pathway.
