BPI Seeks Early Model Access from AI Firms to Boost Security

The Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has sent an open letter to AI firms requesting early access to their upcoming models. This is in response to the increasing threat of AI-driven attacks on small open-source teams, particularly those working on large codebases like Bitcoin Core.

According to the BPI, cutting-edge AI models can identify vulnerabilities and handle complex security tasks quickly, but without early access, independent developers will rely on outdated security software. This makes them vulnerable to well-funded, AI-armed adversaries.

The institute believes that offering early model access to security teams would give them a head start in finding and patching bugs before hackers can weaponize the same models against the network.
