Brazil Cracks Down on Crypto Market with $319 Billion Valuation

Share

Brazil's government has set its sights on regulating the country's massive crypto market, which is valued at $319 billion. The regulatory body, CVM (Comissão de Valores Mobiliários), has announced that all companies operating in the space must obtain a license by October.

The move comes as Brazil's stablecoin market continues to surge, with cross-border flows growing faster than traditional capital movements and investment channels in the country. In fact, according to the IMF (International Monetary Fund), Brazil's stablecoin market has expanded rapidly since 2017, with the volume of transactions increasing by over 50% per year.

Meanwhile, LBank, a major crypto exchange, has launched the Crypto Resilience Initiative in collaboration with CertiK, a blockchain security firm. The initiative aims to enhance platform protection through technical assessments and collaboration between industry players.
