Brazil Pioneers Tokenized Cattle Financing on B3 Exchange
Brazil's B3 exchange has pioneered an innovative agricultural financing framework by utilizing tokenized dairy cattle as loan collateral. The first transaction, facilitated by Target FIDC, secured 100,000 Brazilian reais in funding through ten dairy cows from Fazenda Engenho Velho.
The cowmed technology provided the foundation for this financial innovation, attaching unique digital signatures to each animal via AI-powered smart collar devices. This enables real-time tracking and monitoring of livestock health metrics, behavioral patterns, and geographical positioning.
The B3 exchange's registration platform now acknowledges continuously tracked livestock as legitimate registered movable collateral, eliminating the need for physical property inspections. This resolves persistent obstacles in cattle-backed credit arrangements, allowing financial institutions to assess collateral values more closely aligned with current market rates.
