Brazilian Central Bank Deploys Real-Time Crypto Threat Alert System
The Central Bank of Brazil has developed a real-time crypto threat alert system in collaboration with blockchain security company Hypernative. The system aims to connect banks and domestic exchanges, enabling them to identify attacks, respond to suspicious activity, and track funds when stolen money moves into crypto markets.
The project gained urgency after the C&M infrastructure attack in 2025, where attackers stole between $140 million and $180 million and converted part of the funds into cryptocurrencies. The system has already undergone testing with a group including banks and crypto companies, and some alerts have been issued.
The system is designed to distribute threat information between participating institutions, allowing alerts generated in one part of the financial system to reach companies that may encounter the funds later.
