Brazilian Crypto Adoption Surpasses Stocks Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
Crypto investments have surpassed stocks as a popular choice in Brazil, with 17.2% of the population now owning or having owned digital assets, compared to just 7.4% who hold stocks.
This marks a significant milestone, with roughly 29 million people participating in crypto, more than double the number holding stocks.
The growth of crypto adoption is largely attributed to Brazilians accessing digital assets through their own bank's app, with 83% of holders getting in this way rather than using a dedicated exchange.
This trend raises questions about the upcoming licensing regime for crypto firms, which will require exchanges and custodians to hold a license and meet certain capital requirements by October 30, 2026.
