Brazilian Election Candidates' Crypto Holdings Revealed: Bitcoin Leads the Pack
A recent analysis of the financial declarations of Brazilian election candidates has shed light on their investments in cryptocurrencies. According to the study, Bitcoin (BTC) is the most declared cryptocurrency among the candidates, followed closely by Ethereum (ETH). Other notable cryptocurrencies mentioned include XRP, Solana (SOL), Chainlink (LINK), Cardano (ADA), and Dogecoin (DOGE).
The analysis found that 320 records of crypto-related assets were identified in 162 candidatures, with over R$1 billion declared. The study considered only explicit mentions of cryptocurrencies by name or ticker symbol.
Bitcoin was the clear leader, with candidates declaring large sums invested in the cryptocurrency. One candidate, Leonardo Avalanche, declared R$491 million in Bitcoin. Other notable examples include Kaue Oliveira, who declared 10 BTC worth R$822,000, and Lucas Pocay, who declared 1.01632351 BTC valued at R$340,000.
The analysis also found that Ethereum was often mentioned alongside other cryptocurrencies, indicating a more diversified investment strategy among some candidates. XRP, Solana, Chainlink, and Cardano were also frequently mentioned, with some candidates declaring significant sums invested in these cryptocurrencies.
