Brazil's Crypto Market Takes a Hit from Regulatory Scrutiny
Brazil's crypto market is experiencing one of its toughest times due to regulatory scrutiny. According to data from the Central Bank of Brazil, crypto asset purchases in July plummeted by nearly 80% compared to June, reaching $572 million.
This decline is attributed to an adaptation period for major cryptocurrency exchanges to comply with new regulations. The central bank classifies digital tokens as corresponding liabilities, and most transactions involved stablecoins.
Fernando Rocha, head of the statistics department at the Central Bank of Brazil, explained that this reduction reflects a reorganization in the virtual asset market due to intensified regulation and supervision.
