A British investor has successfully recovered £3.3 million in Bitcoin after a 12-year wait.

The individual, referred to as 'Chris,' purchased 61 BTC through the early UK exchange Britcoin in December 2011 for approximately $2,000.

When Chris lost access to his holdings due to Intersango's shutdown, he thought his investment was gone forever. The bitcoin was worth about £4,000 at the time.

CEL Solicitors used cryptocurrency tracing technology in combination with historical documents to prove Chris' ownership of the funds and recover the assets. This recovery took around four months without law-enforcement intervention.
