British Investor Recovers $4.5 Million in Stolen Bitcoin
A British investor who thought he lost his Bitcoin investment in 2012 is breathing a sigh of relief after recovering $4.5 million, thanks to the efforts of law firm CEL Solicitors and its sister company The Crypto Tracing Experts.
Chris, whose real name has not been disclosed, initially invested around £1,500 ($2,000) in Bitcoin through Britcoin, a UK exchange that later became Intersango. However, he lost access to his wallet in late 2012, just as the cryptocurrency's price began to rise.
CEL Solicitors used crypto-tracing software to identify a wallet believed to belong to Intersango users, containing over $421 million ($5,500 BTC). The recovered funds had appreciated significantly, and at the time of recovery, were worth around $4.5 million.
The investor's initial purchase price was below $4 per BTC, while the current price is around $76,500. Chris plans to keep some of his Bitcoin despite concerns about price volatility and theft, hoping to see if its value will rise again.
