British Sprinter CJ Ujah Denies Involvement in Cryptocurrency Fraud Ring

British sprinter CJ Ujah has been accused of being part of an organised crime group linked to cryptocurrency fraud. The athlete, whose real name is Chijindu Ujah, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defraud at Chelmsford Crown Court in east London.

The alleged scam involved phone calls to multiple victims from people pretending to be police officers and crypto-currency companies. Victims were deceived into sharing their security details before discovering that funds stored in their crypto wallets had been stolen.

One of the victims reportedly lost more than £300,000 ($400,000). Ujah is set for a 12-week trial at Chelmsford Crown Court from May 24 next year. The next hearing will be held on September 9.
