Brokers Abandon 'Markets' Suffix Amid Industry Shift to Wider Financial Platforms

Share

Major changes have taken place in the retail trading industry as several brokers adjust their brands and expand into new asset classes.

The trend of dropping 'Markets' from their names has gained momentum, with IC Markets becoming the latest firm to make the change. Blueberry, KCM Trade, Admirals, and IG Group have also undergone similar rebranding efforts, moving away from traditional naming conventions associated with forex and CFDs.

This shift is seen as a response to changing client expectations and an expansion beyond the industry's original boundaries. Brokers are now incorporating crypto, prop trading, and payments into their offerings, requiring new branding that reflects these diversifications.

QRS Global has been acquired and rebranded as Brex Capital, with Sophie Squillacioti taking on the role of CEO. The rebranding follows a scandal in Thailand involving QRS Global's local operator, who was arrested over allegations including fraud and money laundering.
