BSP Proposes 12-Month Freeze on New Payment-System Operator Registrations
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has proposed a 12-month suspension of new payment-system operator registrations to review its licensing framework.
The BSP aims to conduct a 'holistic review' of the OPS taxonomy, registration process, and licensing framework through the proposed circular.
New applications for OPS registration will be temporarily halted, but those already submitted can continue through the evaluation process without a decision until the 12-month period ends.
