BSTR Scraps US Listing Plan Amid Market Weakness

BSTR, a company focused on cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, has withdrawn its plan to list on a US exchange via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger due to market weakness. The decision was made after the company cited downward price pressure on Bitcoin and publicly traded Bitcoin treasury companies as the main reason for their move.

The company had planned to merge with Cantor Equity Partners I, a SPAC, but the agreement was mutually terminated on August 21. BSTR's Chief Executive Officer Adam Back stated that CEPO and Cantor had been excellent partners in making this decision together.

BSTR attributed the difficulty in fundraising to market conditions, which made it challenging to use convertible bonds and perpetual preferred shares efficiently. Despite current market conditions, demand for returns using Bitcoin remains substantial, according to CEO Adam Back.
