BTC and ETH Surge Ahead of Major Markets in July
Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) made significant gains in July, outperforming major asset classes. According to CoinGlass data, ETH rose by almost 20% over the past 30 days, while BTC added more than 7%. In contrast, chip stocks plummeted 22%, with the Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 falling 9% and 3%, respectively.
The S&P 500 declined about 1%, but silver dropped by 2.64%. Gold was relatively stable, gaining just 0.38% in value over the same period.
Both cryptocurrencies have had a difficult first half of 2026, but their July performance provides some relief to investors. However, history suggests that August may be a tougher month for BTC, as it has posted an annual loss every year since 2022.
Despite this cautionary note, analysts remain divided on the future prospects of the cryptocurrencies. Some predict another downturn before a broader recovery begins in 2027, while others forecast a more prolonged bear market.
