$BTC Long-Term Holders Accumulate Record Amounts Amid Market Volatility
ARK Invest's Q1 2026 Bitcoin Quarterly report reveals that long-term Bitcoin holders have been accumulating $BTC at an unprecedented pace. The total supply held by conviction buyers increased from 2.13 million to 3.60 million, a 69% increase in just three months.
This accumulation phase is described as the fastest absorption since the 2020 cycle, with high-conviction participants treating the quarter's 22% price drawdown as a buying opportunity. The report covers on-chain data through March 31 and shows that $BTC closed Q1 near $68,200 after breaking below three key on-chain support levels.
Despite the aggressive accumulation, ARK argues that $BTC has not yet reached its true cyclical bottom. They place the historically significant bottom zone between the realized price near $54,000 and the investor price near $50,000. A move into this range has marked a high-conviction global bottom in prior cycles.
Spot Bitcoin ETF balances remained relatively stable, closing March near 1.29 million $BTC, roughly flat quarter-over-quarter. This stability suggests institutional conviction remains strong despite significant downside volatility.
