BTC Price Breakout Imminent: Compression Trade Sets Stage for $66K Target
Bitcoin's price has been coiling in a tight intraday range of $463, with its average true range (ATR) sitting at $1,303. This compression has led to a buildup of tension, and experts believe it will eventually release.
The structure beneath the price is also telling, with Bitcoin comfortably above its 7-, 20-, and 50-day moving averages. This stacked alignment suggests controlled accumulation rather than panic distribution.
Derivatives positioning is also indicating a bullish trend, with aggressive market buyers outpacing sellers by a third in recent flow. The top trader cohort, representing institutional and whale-level positioning, sits 56.3% long against 43.7% short.
The key levels to watch are the $64,461-$64,656 band, which is reinforced by a convergence of SMA-7 at $64,479 and SMA-20 at $64,438. A sustained 4H close below $64,461 could trigger a measured move toward SMA-50 at $63,373.
On the upside, breaking above $65,387 targets the upper Bollinger Band at $66,296, with an initial profit target and secondary target extending to $67,500-$68,000 on a measured expansion of the current trading range.
