Bitcoin's price has surged above $78,000 despite ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. The cryptocurrency reached an intraday high of $78,940 during US trading hours.

The sudden rebound comes after President Donald Trump stated on social media that Iran was interested in a deal and Washington was open to negotiations. He claimed Tehran wanted 'a deal, as quickly as possible, as badly as possible.'

However, Iranian state media rejected the US president's comments, saying there was no agreement in sight.
