BTCS Expands DeFi Operations to Base Layer-2 Network
BTCS Inc., a company focused on blockchain infrastructure operations and decentralized finance (DeFi), has expanded its DeFi business line, Imperium, onto Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network created by Coinbase. This move marks Imperium's first operation beyond the Ethereum mainnet.
According to Charles Allen, CEO of BTCS, this expansion allows the company to dynamically provide liquidity across multiple networks and assets. He stated that operating on Base is 'our first step beyond Ethereum mainnet.'
The growth of Imperium's assets deployed in paired liquidity pools has been significant, increasing from approximately $8 million at the end of the second quarter to around $36 million currently. This growth positions BTCS to exceed its $6 million gross profit target for the year.
Base has become one of the largest Ethereum Layer-2 networks, with over $12 billion in on-chain assets. The company is evaluating additional strategies for Imperium as part of a broader expansion roadmap.
