Bulgaria Grants Tax Authorities Access to Crypto-Asset Data

Share

The Bulgarian National Assembly's Committee on Budget and Finance has approved a bill that grants tax authorities access to information about individuals who use crypto-assets.

The bill, which amends the Tax-Insurance Procedure Code (TIPC), requires companies operating in the crypto-asset sector to register and provide relevant data in one of the member states. This includes personal user data for each customer, such as full names, address, date and place of birth, tax information, and operational data.

The bill aims to ensure tax efficiency and complies with European directives on administrative cooperation and automatic exchange of information for tax purposes. The changes will come into effect retroactively as of January 1, 2026.
