Bullish Taps $100M for AI Loans Backed by Graphics Processing Units
Bullish, the institutional crypto platform, has made a significant move in the world of private credit for AI-related infrastructure. The company has extended a $100 million stablecoin debt facility to USD.AI to finance loans secured by graphics processing units (GPUs). This deal marks a major step towards bringing real-world assets onchain and highlights Bullish's commitment to tokenizing credible, well-structured assets.
The GPU-backed AI loans are expected to be a significant trend in the private credit market, with potential for massive growth. According to Bullish, this type of lending eclipses legacy debt markets such as auto loans and home equity lines of credit (HELOCs) in terms of scale. The company's shares have seen a 44% gain over the last month, reflecting investors' confidence in this emerging market.
However, there are risks associated with GPU-backed collateral, particularly if GPU prices drop suddenly or borrowers default on their loans. Thomas Cowan, Head of Tokenization at Bullish, acknowledged these concerns but emphasized the importance of underwriting facilities with institutional diligence.
