Buterin Brushes Off AI Threats to Bitcoin Security
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has responded to concerns that advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) could compromise Bitcoin's security and lead to a significant price drop.
In an interview, Buterin dismissed the idea that AI could trigger a 50%+ crash by undermining the network's security, stating he doesn't believe such a scenario is likely. He also revealed that approximately 90% of his net worth is effectively positioned against this outcome, indicating his confidence in Bitcoin's ability to withstand future technological developments.
The comments come amidst broader discussions about AI's potential impact on cryptography and blockchain networks. While some experts worry that future systems could weaken cryptographic algorithms securing digital assets, Buterin's response suggests he believes these risks are either overstated or unlikely to materialize in a way that would severely impact Bitcoin.
