Buterin Dismisses AI Threats to Bitcoin: 'Not a Cause for Concern'
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has expressed his disagreement with the idea that artificial intelligence (AI) poses a significant threat to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
This comes as many high-profile figures in the financial world express concerns about AI's potential impact on the sector. Liron Shapira, host of the podcast Doom Debates, predicts a 50%+ crash in Bitcoin's price within two years due to AI-related security issues.
Buterin argues that Bitcoin can adapt to new challenges and continue to protect itself without relying on social consensus. He notes that the team behind Bitcoin has been working on its security for over 15 years and is prepared to address any potential threats.
In fact, Buterin believes that the risk of a hash function breach, proof-of-work power decrease, or cryptography compromise remains low due to the skilled engineers defending the network. He also states that he has 90% of his assets invested in cryptocurrencies and plans to keep it that way for the next two years.
