Buterin Rejects 50% Bitcoin Crash Warning Amid AI Security Fears

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has rejected warnings from AI researcher Liron Shapira that artificial intelligence could trigger a major Bitcoin crash within two years. According to Buterin, the probability of AI breaking Bitcoin's core cryptographic protections is 'tiny.'

Shapira had given a 50% chance that Bitcoin falls by over 50% within two years due to AI risks. He linked this forecast to AI systems possibly weakening security protections investors expect from Bitcoin.

Buterin disagreed, arguing that Bitcoin can respond to most technical threats before they become catastrophic. He believes that developers could update software and mining pools adjust systems when new attack methods emerge, helping the network respond quickly to potential vulnerabilities.
