Buterin Rejects AI-Driven Bitcoin Crash Prediction
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin disputed an AI-driven prediction that Bitcoin could crash by more than half within two years. Liron Shapira, host of the Doom Debates podcast on AI risk, made the claim with a confidence level of 50%. He argued that AI would erode security guarantees in the network.
Buterin responded by saying he took the opposite side of the prediction and was 'basically taking this bet' with most of his net worth already invested. He expressed optimism about cybersecurity over the long term, citing his expectation that Bitcoin can adapt to any issues not requiring social consensus.
The Ethereum co-founder also pointed out that Shapira's argument would imply similar risks for Ethereum, given their shared ownership and exposure to AI threats.
