Buterin Seeks DAO Overhaul with Zero-Knowledge Proofs and AI Assistants
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently called for a revival of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), arguing that current implementations are inefficient and vulnerable to manipulation.
In a post on X, Buterin emphasized the need for improved DAO designs that prioritize governance and communication as essential components of their operations. He criticized token-based oracles as fundamentally limited, citing their inability to have a cost of attack higher than their market cap while extracting rent that exceeds the discount rate.
The co-founder identified five critical areas where improved DAO designs are urgently needed: better oracle systems for stablecoins and prediction markets, on-chain dispute resolution for insurance and advanced contracts, maintaining lists of verified applications and token addresses, launching projects quickly, and ensuring long-term project maintenance after founding teams depart.
