Bybit Appoints VARA Alum Peter Loo as Chief Legal Officer
Crypto exchange Bybit has appointed Peter Loo as its Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead its global compliance strategies. Loo, a senior regulator from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), will oversee the exchange's legal and compliance teams both onshore and offshore.
Loo was instrumental in drafting Dubai's Virtual Asset Law and overseeing licensing of exchanges and custodial services during his tenure at VARA. Bybit has been actively developing its business in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia while navigating changing regulations.
The appointment is seen as a turning point for the crypto industry, indicating a greater emphasis on compliance amid expansion.
