Bybit Bolsters Security Following $1.46B Hack, Intercepts Over $700M in Potential Losses
Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has bolstered its security systems following a $1.46 billion theft in February 2025.
The company detailed its expanded security measures in its H1 2026 Risk & Security Report, covering January 1 through June 15.
Bybit's three-layer protection system includes user and account security, real-time on-chain monitoring, and AI-assisted security operations. The goal is to create a system that can continuously learn from emerging threats and reduce the time between detection and intervention.
In H1 2026, Bybit intercepted more than $700 million in potential user losses, with an average initial review time of 4.7 minutes. The company also identified approximately $212 million in potential fraud-linked on-chain funds and blacklisted over 10,000 malicious addresses using AI-assisted monitoring.
