Bybit Expands European Presence with EMI License
Bybit has expanded its regulated presence in Europe after obtaining an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA). The approval allows Bybit Payments GmbH, a subsidiary of the company, to provide regulated electronic money and payment services across Europe through the Bybit.eu platform.
The EMI license complements Bybit's existing MiCA-regulated entity, which will continue to offer crypto-asset services. This dual regulatory framework enables the company to maintain separate entities for its payment and crypto services while providing a unified experience for customers.
According to Georg Harer, Managing Director at Bybit EU GmbH and Bybit Payments GmbH, 'Europe is setting the global benchmark for how digital assets and financial services can evolve together under clear regulation.' He added that the EMI license and MiCA authorization create complementary regulatory foundations connecting crypto assets, payments, and everyday financial services through Bybit.eu.
