Bybit Sues North Korea for Record $1.5B Crypto Hack
Bybit has taken North Korea and its intelligence agency to court in an attempt to recover $1.5 billion stolen in a February 2025 hack.
The FBI previously attributed the attack to North Korean actors, who used the name 'TraderTraitor'.
The lawsuit is separate from ongoing U.S. criminal investigations and seeks to freeze certain stolen assets held by unidentified defendants.
Bybit's co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou said the exchange had worked with investigators, regulators, other trading platforms, and law enforcement agencies since the attack.
