Bybit Sues North Korea Over $1.5 Billion Crypto Heist

Crypto exchange Bybit has filed a lawsuit against North Korea and its hacker group Lazarus Group over the theft of $1.5 billion in February 2025.

The exchange claims that some of the stolen funds ended up on U.S. trading platforms, and it has gained the right to request information from these platforms as part of the expedited discovery process.

Bybit is seeking the return of the stolen assets, compensation of approximately $1.5 billion, punitive damages, and treble damages under the U.S. RICO Act against organized crime.
