Bybit Sues North Korea Over Record-Breaking $1.5B Crypto Heist
Crypto exchange Bybit has taken drastic action against North Korea over the $1.5 billion theft from its platform in February 2025.
The exchange filed a civil lawsuit against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, its Reconnaissance General Bureau and the Lazarus Group, a state-linked hacking outfit blamed for the attack.
Bybit secured a court order freezing identified stolen assets worth around $31 million across more than 28 exchanges and custodians, in addition to $48.4 million already recovered.
The lawsuit is ongoing alongside criminal investigations, with Bybit sharing blockchain intelligence with agencies including the FBI.
