Bybit Taps Ex-Regulator Expert to Lead Compliance Efforts
Crypto exchange Bybit has made a key hire as it looks to solidify its position in the increasingly regulated world of digital assets. Peter Loo, a veteran of both traditional finance and Web3 platforms, joins Bybit as chief legal and compliance officer.
Loo's background is in regulation and compliance, having worked at Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, where he helped develop licensing frameworks and market conduct policies. He also has experience working with global financial institutions, including Barclays and Citigroup.
Bybit's co-founder and CEO, Ben Zhou, said Loo brings a unique combination of expertise to the role, having worked both in regulation and on Web3 platforms. 'Peter understands not only how rules are written, but also how they are applied in practice across jurisdictions,' he said.
