Bybit Unveils Perp Options on Stock Perpetuals with Unique Funding Structure
Bybit is launching Perp Options on stock perpetuals, starting with SpaceX (SPCX) and Nvidia (NVDA) as initial underlyings. The new product will be available on September 17, 2026, at 8 p.m. UTC. Bybit's Perp Options allow traders to access options strategies on major equities without a U.S. brokerage account or the 100-share minimum required for Nasdaq-listed options.
The key feature of Bybit's Perp Options is that they have no fixed premium, unlike traditional equity options. Instead, the option buyer continuously pays a periodic funding rate proportional to the option's current mark price. This means the total cost of holding a perp option over a given period depends not just on how long you hold it, but also on where the underlying perpetual price trades relative to the strike during that period.
Bybit's Perp Options will be USDT-settled and have no fixed expiration date. Supported strategies include buying and selling options outright, spreads, straddles, and covered calls. The exchange plans to add Tesla (TSLA), the Nasdaq-100 ETF (QQQ), the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares ETF (SOXL), and Micron (MU) as additional underlyings in the future.
