Calacanis Slams Saylor's Bitcoin Buying Strategy
Jason Calacanis, an early investor in Uber, has questioned Michael Saylor's strategy of buying large amounts of Bitcoin. Speaking on X, formerly Twitter, Calacanis stated that Saylor is trying to corner the market by accumulating Bitcoins in a way that he believes will limit its further rise.
Calacanis also criticized Strategy, saying it is a complicated way to buy Bitcoin and that anyone looking to invest should just buy Bitcoin itself. He questioned the premise behind a rising Bitcoin price, stating that it needs a continuously expanding base of believers to rise.
Calacanis' remarks came as he rebutted optimism from Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, who assessed the broader market as being in a bear market but kept a bullish outlook on Bitcoin. Scaramucci stated that bitcoin has shown unusual resilience during the recent downturn and could again rise above $100,000.
Other investor views were mixed, with Hunter Horsley, chief executive of Bitwise, pushing back directly against Calacanis' statements saying he was wrong.
