California Aims to Clamp Down on Officially Launched Meme Coins

California lawmakers have passed Bill AB 2409, which will prohibit state officials from issuing meme coins starting January 1, 2027. This ban also extends to crypto platforms that offer tokens launched by or in collaboration with officials to state residents after the designated date.
