California Man Gets 15 Years for Alleged Role in Danbury Kidnapping and Bitcoin Heist

A California man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his alleged role in a 2024 kidnapping and cryptocurrency theft case in Danbury, Connecticut. Adam Iza, 26, pleaded guilty on June 1 to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. According to court documents, he communicated via phone and encrypted apps with kidnappers, providing them with funding and logistics for the scheme.

The alleged kidnapping was connected to a violent carjacking of a Lamborghini and the abduction of two occupants in Danbury on August 25, 2024. The six men from Florida who carried out the crime pleaded guilty, along with Iza's brother Saif Faiq, who is awaiting sentencing.

Iza was already being held since September 24, 2024, after being charged with unrelated federal offenses in California. The cryptocurrency involved in the scheme was Bitcoin.
