Canada-US Trade Talks Collapse Amid Tariff Dispute

The US-Canada trade relationship has hit a new low after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick accused Canada of sabotaging trade talks. In late August 2026, Lutnick claimed that Canada introduced sweeping new demands at the eleventh hour, collapsing what had been an emerging framework for a deal.
