Canada's Crypto Crime Hotspot: ZachXBT Exposes Country's Dark Side
ZachXBT, a renowned blockchain sleuth, has published a list ranking the worst jurisdictions for dealing with crypto crimes. Canada takes the top spot, surprisingly beating out notorious countries like Nigeria and Algeria.
According to ZachXBT, India's law enforcement is 'incompetent,' citing cases where officials asked for help releasing stolen funds linked to the Lazarus Group, a known North Korean hacking collective. However, he ranked Canada worse due to local law enforcement's refusal to act even after receiving evidence of crimes being committed.
ZachXBT stated that despite receiving reports on threat actors from reputable sources, Canadian authorities often ignored victims' pleas for help, claiming it was a 'first-world country.'
The investigator also highlighted Toronto as one of the global hotspots for fraud and revealed that law enforcement agencies seized assets from innocent users due to their inability to distinguish between illicit and legitimate activity.
