Canadian Regulator Clears Path for XRP Options on US Markets
Canadian XRP options have made their way onto US markets, thanks to a recent regulatory nod from Canada's top financial regulator.
The Montreal Exchange has already cleared two important XRP-based items, XRP Evolve ETF (XRP) and XRP Purpose ETF (XRPP), for trading in the United States, alongside BTC, ETH, and SOL ETF options. This puts XRP in the top-tier digital asset category, with institutional XRP derivatives now available to investors.
Two major Canadian banks have disclosed their inaugural filings with towering XRP exposure: National Bank of Canada revealed a $330K stake in the Bitwise ETF, while Bank Of Montreal confirmed more than 350 XRP-related shares. However, it's worth noting that these banks aren't directly buying Ripple's XRP coin on spot markets; instead, they're finding confidence in XRP's ecosystem from a regulatory outlook.
The availability of XRP options gives traditional stock market investors an extra layer of security and allows them to time their plays properly in a regulated environment. The options settle on-balance once they expire, without the need for self-custodial wallet seedphrases.
