Canton Launches Decentralized App Layer with Open-Sourced Framework
Canton's decentralized app layer has officially launched, backed by a Canton Foundation Development Fund grant of over $1 million. This marks a significant milestone in the growth and adoption of institutional blockchain applications.
BitSafe, a leading developer on the Canton Network, has released Decentralization Manager, an open-sourced framework that allows apps and institutions to build resilient products with distributed control. This infrastructure is critical for meeting institutional application standards, which require audit trails and trust distribution.
Palladium Labs is already using Decentralization Manager to enable multi-party authorization for protocol operations, while other builders such as DSRV, Nethermind, and Finoa Consensus Services have also implemented the framework. The public beta of Decentralization Manager is open now on the Canton Foundation's GitHub.
The launch of Decentralization Manager marks a major expansion of on-chain use cases for the Canton Network, enabling institutions to issue and govern Canton-native tokens, custody and multi-signature wallets, tokenized real-world assets and securities, DEXs, lending, and structured products. The framework is independently audited by Quantstamp and has already been used in live production environments.
Viv Diwakar, Head of the Canton Foundation, noted that 'the future of institutional blockchain depends on making sophisticated infrastructure easier to build and adopt.' Decentralization Manager makes this possible, giving developers the tools to create resilient, privacy-preserving applications with distributed trust.
