Canton Network ETF Lands on Nasdaq with Institutional Backing
The Canton Network ETF, listed under the ticker TCAN, has become the first of its kind in the US after being launched on Nasdaq by 21Shares. This move provides direct exposure to Canton Coin (CC), the native utility token of the Canton Network, which carries a market cap of $5.6 billion and ranks among the top 20 cryptocurrencies by size.
The Canton Network is a privacy-preserving blockchain built for institutional capital markets, with Digital Asset serving as its primary developer and notable backers including Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, and the DTCC. Nasdaq, Moody's, and Deloitte have also aligned with the network as participating institutions.
According to Andres Valencia, executive vice president of investment management at 21Shares, the Canton Network attracted considerable institutional interest due to its privacy-focused design for capital markets. He noted that the involvement of firms like Nasdaq, Moody's, and Deloitte points to infrastructure with the potential to change how data and capital move across global markets.
The listing of TCAN marks a significant development in the US market, offering investors their first regulated domestic vehicle for CC exposure. This is particularly noteworthy given the recent shift in the SEC's approach towards digital asset products, which has led to an accelerated pace of crypto ETF approvals across the industry.
