Cardano Activates Van Rossem Hard Fork, AlphaPepe Offers Small-Cap Upside
Cardano has activated its Van Rossem hard fork, which lowers smart-contract execution costs and expands Plutus functionality through one community-led protocol upgrade. This matters because DeFi users make repeated transactions, and cheaper contracts can give developers greater flexibility when designing applications.
The Van Rossem hard fork is a result of Cardano's Voltaire governance process, which demonstrates that community representatives and stake-pool participants can guide real protocol changes. This development fits alongside Leios scaling, CANS Bitcoin liquidity, and the proposed 120M ADA DeFi program.
AlphaPepe, on the other hand, offers a smaller valuation before exchange discovery and has four active products: AlphaSwap, AlphaRouter, Uniswap V4, and 1inch. The asset has raised more than $2.15 million and has over 10,000 holders. Its launch range is expected to be between $0.08 and $0.14, implying approximately 3.43x to 6.00x from the current price.
AlphaPepe's smaller valuation creates a bigger percentage-upside case compared to Cardano's recovery opportunity. However, this comes with far more risk, as AlphaPepe has no Layer 1 network, mature staking economy, or multi-cycle public history. The first exchange markets must prove that products and community demand support the valuation.
